MISSION
The Gershwin Legacy Project, Inc. (GLP) is a New York State nonprofit organization dedicated to developing customized programs that:
Share the profound legacy of George Gershwin and his family striving to illuminate George’s enduring influence in music, arts and culture
Inspire future opportunities in music, arts and culture through comprehensive educational programs targeted especially to youth (at no cost) — sponsored by The GLP and collaborators
Document George’s extraordinary journey from humble origins to an iconic figure in American music and culture through a full length documentary by expanding our introductory film “George Gershwin: More Than Music”
Offer historically significant presentations, concerts, gallery exhibitions, and interdisciplinary educational programs, integrating art forms with schools, colleges, universities, and lifelong learners. Including experimental artistic expression activities in art, music, dance, writing, and architecture
Establish mentorships and scholarships in the arts and cultural studies
Deepen public appreciation for the Gershwins multifaceted contributions to American culture while also cultivating an environment where their works and spirit inspire self-expression in individuals of all backgrounds and ages, especially young enthusiasts
